Well, what a weekend… just after receiving a visit from a Northern Saw-whet Owl in my backyard (see preceding post), a Boreal Owl shows up in another part of Winnipeg! Here are two photos of this rare treat…
Also, Bohemian Waxwings were putting on a great show feeding low on juniper berries
It is getting hard to get any work done this weekend!
Nice - we had one show up here, right beside the roadway, a few weeks ago,

Great birds and photos of them.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots. I have been looking for owls here in Winnipeg, but so far no luck. On my bucket list, but will try and keep my eyes open. Congratulations on such beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteI just moved to St-Pierre-Jolys, MB and have seen a Great Grey and Northern Hawk Owl this week between Sarto and Otterbourne.
ReplyDeleteGreat Luke! It has been quite the winter for observing these owls (irruption year). If interested, check out the Manitoba Breeding Bird Atlas (www.artusobirds.blogspot.com) - perhaps you might like to participate...
