Angelic reflections

I took a few moments to watch a small flock of Bonaparte’s Gulls feeding in a little pond in near Grand Beach, Manitoba. The beautiful shapes they cast with their wings, held high above their heads as they came in to land, and the reflection of those shapes on the lightly rippled surface of the water created some angelic patterns, emphasised by their bold black and white lines. I couldn’t resist posting a few images…





These birds are already in non-breeding (basic) plumage. I thought it might be worth adding a photo of a Bonaparte’s Gull in breeding (alternate) plumage to show the difference.
